The short version

This site reports your IP address to you. It does not build a profile from it, does not sell it, and does not send it to a third party in order to answer your question.

What is processed, and why

Your IP address is in every request you make to any website — it is how the reply reaches you. We read it in order to answer with it, and to run the checks you ask for against it. It is held in memory for the duration of your request and is not written to an application database.

Ordinary web server access logs may record request metadata, including addresses, for operational and abuse-handling purposes. They are kept short-term and are not joined to anything else.

• Pages that report your own address send Cache-Control: private, no-store, so no shared cache can serve your address to the next visitor.
• The port check and blocklist check run against your own address and their results are not stored.
• The address history page keeps its list in your browser's localStorage. It is never uploaded, and we cannot read it.
• The connection page reads browser properties in your browser. Those values are not sent to us.
• The speed test is the one exception on this site: the measurement is run by OpenSpeedTest, on their servers. Their widget is not loaded until you start the test, so nothing reaches them if you only read the page.

Cookies

One cookie is set, and only when you choose a language: NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers that choice so you are not re-routed on the next page. It contains a language code and nothing else. Your colour theme preference is kept in localStorage, not in a cookie.

Third parties

Answering a lookup requires no third-party service, which is the point of compiling the data ourselves. When you request a WHOIS, RDAP or DNS record we query the authoritative registry or resolver for it — that is a query about the resource you named, not about you.

The speed test is the exception, and it is deliberate. Measuring a line means moving data at its full rate, which no amount of pre-compiled data can replace, so that page embeds OpenSpeedTest and the transfer happens between your browser and their network under their own privacy policy. The embed loads only when you press start, and we neither receive nor store the result.

If analytics or advertising has been enabled by the operator of this deployment, those providers set their own cookies under their own policies. Anything active is visible in the page source.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no profile, there is generally nothing on our side to export or delete beyond short-term server logs. If you believe we hold something about you, the contact page reaches us; describe what and when, and we will look.
