Запрос WHOIS

Собственная запись реестра о домене, диапазоне IP или номере AS — сначала RDAP, затем WHOIS в том виде, в каком он пришёл.

WHOIS is how you ask the organisation that actually holds a registration what it says. This page queries the authoritative source for a domain, an IP range or an AS number — RDAP first, because it is structured and current, then the classic WHOIS response reproduced exactly as it came back.

RDAP and WHOIS are not the same answer

RDAP is the modern protocol: JSON over HTTPS, with a bootstrap file from IANA telling us which server is authoritative for any given resource. Classic WHOIS is a plain text conversation on port 43 whose format each registry invented for itself. We show both because they sometimes disagree, and because the raw text often carries remarks and abuse contacts that the structured record drops.

Why fields are missing

Most personal details in domain records have been redacted since GDPR came into force; registrars publish an anonymised contact instead. That is the registry's decision, not ours, and we show the redaction rather than filling it in from a cache. IP and ASN records are far less redacted, because those holders are organisations rather than individuals.

What we query, and what we do not

We follow IANA's bootstrap to the registry that holds the record and ask it directly. For IP space that often means a referral — a regional registry pointing at a national one — and we follow it, because the delegated registry holds the real holder details. We do not cache your query, and we do not run it through a reseller.

Частые вопросы

Why does the domain record hide the owner's name?

Registrars redact personal data in public WHOIS to comply with privacy law. The registrar still holds the details and discloses them to a lawful request. Nothing in a public lookup will show them, on this site or any other.

What is the difference between the registrar and the registry?

The registry runs the top-level domain and holds the authoritative record. The registrar is the company that sold the domain and manages it on the holder's behalf. For a dispute or an abuse report, the registrar is usually the one who can act.

Why did the raw WHOIS response fail while RDAP worked?

WHOIS runs on port 43, which many hosting providers block outbound. When that happens we say so plainly and lean on RDAP, which is authoritative and speaks ordinary HTTPS.
