Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my IP address look different?
If you're using a VPN or proxy, your visible IP address may differ from your actual IP address. Additionally, some internet service providers use dynamic IP addresses, which means your IP address may change from time to time.
Why isn't the location information exact?
IP-based location detection isn't always 100% accurate. IP addresses are typically mapped to your internet service provider's data center location, which may differ from your actual location.
What's the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 is the older internet protocol with 32-bit address length (e.g., 192.168.1.1). IPv6 is the newer protocol with 128-bit address length (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334) and provides more unique addresses.
